Best case scenario sea level rise models reveal that by 2040, the area around Miami’s Turkey Point nuclear power plant will be routinely underwater — but FPL originally didn’t have to analyze sea level rise to run the plant through 2052. We challenged the license with NRDC and Friends of the Earth and got the license overturned.

Miami Waterkeeper's Executive Director and Waterkeeper, Rachel Silverstein, Ph.D., went out on the water with NBC News Senior Investigative and Legal Correspondent, Cynthia McFadden, to talk about this work — and what our efforts mean for the safety of nuclear power across the country.
