The Turkey Point nuclear power plant is not properly preparing for sea level rise and is polluting the Biscayne Aquifer, which is the sole source of drinking water for millions of South Floridians.
Miami Waterkeeper has led a years-long fight against the risks that the Turkey Point nuclear power plant is imposing on South Florida. In February 2022, our coalition-building strategies successfully got the operating license extension into the 2050s revoked. Now, Florida Power & Light, along with all other power companies applying for nuclear power plant operating licenses and license extensions, are required to provide an updated environmental impact assessment that considers sea level rise.
But the fight is not over.
Join us in our continued efforts to ensure Turkey Point properly prepares for sea level rise and cleans up its pollution by making a donation today.
