How much does this program cost?
This is a free program offered by Miami Waterkeeper.
When is the application deadline?
August 15th is the deadline to apply for the 2024-2025 cohort.
What age group is this program for?
Miami Waterkeeper Ambassadors is an adult-leadership program. You must be 18 years or older to apply. Students in grades 9–12 can apply to our Junior Ambassador program.
How long is the Ambassador program?
The program occurs throughout the course of an academic year (September to June).
Where are the events and meetings?
Field trips and workshops will take place at various locations throughout Miami-Dade County. Event details will be shared at least one month in advance.
Can I get community service hours for participating in this program?
Yes. You can earn 2 to 4 hours per event/training, depending on session time.
Which events and activities are mandatory?
This competitive program expects ambassadors to attend the initial introductory session (remote) and to complete at least 9 of the 12 modules. Recurring absences may lead to loss of ambassador status.
What if I have to miss an event?
You can miss up to 3 events. In some cases, a make-up event may be available.
When will events take place?
All events will be held on the weekend or during the evening on a weekday.
How many Ambassadors are there?
This is a competitive program and Miami Waterkeeper selects 25-30 participants each year.
