Dr. Adriana González Fernández is a dedicated environmental scientist with 10 years of experience in water quality research. Her pollution source tracking and data-driven decision-making expertise is critical in protecting coastal ecosystems.

Dr. Adriana González Fernández is an accomplished environmental scientist with a decade of experience specializing in water quality. She earned her Ph.D. in Integrative Biology with a concentration in environmental microbiology from the University of South Florida in Tampa and holds a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology from Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica.

Dr. González Fernández’s research has focused on measuring pathogens and fecal indicator bacteria in environmental waters, assessing the risks associated with swimming in polluted beaches, and validating molecular methods for the detection and quantification of these microbes. Her experience includes supervising and directing training for collaborators, equipping them with the skills to concentrate, detect, and quantify viruses in waters. She has also assisted in coordinating comprehensive water quality studies, overseeing fieldwork, data processing, and analysis, which established crucial baselines for targeted areas.

Her impactful research is published in peer-reviewed journals, underscoring her dedication to improving water quality and public health through rigorous scientific exploration.
