Take Action! Urge the County to help Miamians Hook Up!

Tell our County Commissioners to support funding assistance for homeowners to hook up their homes to our sewer system.

Septic tanks pollute our water and are a major source of contamination entering Biscayne Bay. We have to remove Miami-Dade’s over 120,000 septic tanks to protect our waterways and public health. But hooking up -- even when the sewer lines come close by -- can be expensive. Many property owners in Miami-Dade County may not have the financial resources to connect their properties to the sanitary sewer system.

Accordingly, Commissioner Sosa has sponsored a resolution to be heard this Tuesday, May 3, during the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) meeting that would establish a Septic to Sewer Trust Fund and an associated Septic to Sewer assistance program. This would assist financially-constrained private property owners with septic to sewer conversions.

If approved, the Trust Fund would include initial funding of at least $3 million in the County Budget for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 to help people connect.

Please take action today to encourage the BCC members to approve this resolution.  Support this funding for homeowners and help protect Biscayne Bay from septic pollution!
