State of the Water 2021
Watch Miami Waterkeeper's third annual State of the Water address. On March 4, 2021, this free, virtual event convened community leaders to provide a full and fact-based overview of the major issues facing our watershed and solutions for the coming year. At the State of the Water, Miami Waterkeeper, Dr. Rachel Silverstein, provided an overview of the year’s top water quality issues. Special guests included Mayors Daniella Levine Cava and Francis Suarez.
Clean water is what makes Miami, Miami. Yet our water resources are continually threatened by pollution. Representing our region's core economic drivers and generating over $12.7 billion annually, Biscayne Bay and the associated waterways represent a vital part of South Florida’s economy.
We were also proud to award the second annual Porter Prize to a member of the community who has gone above and beyond in service to the environment. This year’s recipient was Paul Schwiep, Miami Waterkeeper outside counsel and partner of the law firm Coffey Burlington.
