Senior Program Director

Miami Waterkeeper (MWK) is an award-winning non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Biscayne Bay and the surrounding watershed. Launched in 2010, MWK has become a leading advocate for clean water, inspiring a movement of empowered citizens dedicated to achieving swimmable, drinkable, fishable water. Addressing issues on multiple fronts, we use community outreach, scientific research, and civic and legal action to advance our mission. Miami Waterkeeper is seeking a dynamic individual with strategic, supervisory, and management experience in the environmental field.  An ideal candidate for this role will have a deep passion for our mission and will be highly skilled, detail-oriented, independent, exceptionally organized, and self-motivated. This is a key role focused on helping to guide overall mission-oriented strategy and implementation. This role will oversee the science, policy, and education focus area, teams. Therefore, an ideal candidate can manage multiple projects simultaneously, pivot quickly, and will be able to work closely across disciplines.  Our Senior Program Director will feel comfortable delivering campaigns and leading teams at a high level and at a rapid pace.  This position may also have public speaking opportunities and will need to have strong relationship-building skills.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help to develop and implement interdisciplinary strategy on behalf of the environment
• Supervise,  lead, and build a strong program team which includes  the education, policy, and science staff members
• Set and project manage short and long-term deliverables 
• Oversight, along with Waterkeeper, of key projects, campaigns, grants, and contracts
• Create and lead interdisciplinary campaigns for distinct audiences
• Ensure grant deliverables and contracts are met by the team and budgets are properly tracked
• Represent Miami Waterkeeper in public events and meetings

 

ADDITIONAL  RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain external partnerships
• Represent Miami Waterkeeper’s positions in media interviews, when requested by the Waterkeeper
• Supervise at least 3 direct reports
• Design and implement processes and procedures to improve team efficiency
• Create quarterly program progress reports for the Board
• Generate and steward partnerships with external organizations and agencies
• Ensure that all grant deliverables are met and reports are accurate
• Ensure quality and factual accuracy of all communications

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of supervisory experience
• 5+ years of project management experience
• 5+ years of strategic campaign experience
• Background in environmental conservation work
• Excellent research, analytical, writing, and communication skills
• High emotional intelligence, sense of urgency, and flexibility
• High attention to detail
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Strong desire to advocate for public interest environmental campaigns
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented setting

SALARY RANGE

$75,000-$95,000
