MIAMI, FL — February 28, 2025 — Miami Waterkeeper, South Florida's leading advocate for clean water and healthy watersheds, announces the appointment of two accomplished business leaders to its Board of Directors. Paula Tolliver, veteran technology executive and former Intel Chief Information Officer (CIO), and Seth Cassel, co-founder of EveryMundo and civic leader, joined the organization effective January 1, 2025.
"As Miami Waterkeeper continues to expand its impact across South Florida, Tolliver and Cassel bring invaluable expertise in technology, business scaling, and community leadership," said Dr. Rachel Silverstein, CEO and Miami Waterkeeper. "Their proven track records in driving transformational change and their deep commitment to our community will be instrumental as we tackle the mounting challenges facing our region's waters, from climate impacts to water quality issues. Tolliver and Cassel have provided guidance and support for Miami Waterkeeper for years, and we are honored to welcome them to our Board of Directors."
Tolliver brings extensive Fortune 500 leadership experience to Miami Waterkeeper's board. Currently serving on the boards of public companies C.H. Robinson, Invesco, and Syniti, Tolliver's background includes roles as CIO at Intel Corporation, where she led a global team of 7,000 IT professionals and managed a $1.6B budget. Her expertise in digital transformation and operational excellence will strengthen Miami Waterkeeper's technological capabilities and organizational efficiency, which has been a key focus area after being awarded a $5 million grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in 2023 to invest in enhanced digital capacity.
"Miami's waterways are not just environmental treasures — they're economic drivers and the foundation of our community's resilience," said Tolliver.
Cassel joins the board with a strong background in entrepreneurship and civic engagement. As co-founder of EveryMundo, a global leader in Fare Marketing technology acquired by PROS in 2021, Cassel brings valuable experience scaling organizations and fostering innovation. His current roles as chair of the board of the Miami-Dade Innovation Authority and board member of Lotus House demonstrate his commitment to Miami's civic infrastructure and community.
Cassel added, "As a Miami Beach resident raising my family here, I understand firsthand the critical importance of protecting our marine environment. I believe in Miami Waterkeeper’s ability to support our region through a pivotal time for our water resources."
As South Florida grapples with intensifying threats to its marine ecosystem, these appointments bolster Miami Waterkeeper's ability to defend, protect, and preserve Miami’s waters for current and future generations through science, research, education, and advocacy.
