Vice President of Digital Products

Miami Waterkeeper (MWK) is an award-winning non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Biscayne Bay and the surrounding watershed. Launched in 2010, MWK has become a leading advocate for clean water, inspiring a movement of empowered citizens dedicated to achieving swimmable, drinkable, fishable water. Addressing issues on multiple fronts, we use community outreach, scientific research, and civic and legal action to advance our mission. We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join our Miami-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization as the VP of Digital Strategy and Innovation. This key leadership role will be responsible for driving the organization's digital product strategy and innovation initiatives to further our mission of advocating for South Florida’s watershed and wildlife. Your expertise will be crucial in transforming public opinion, broadening reach, and driving community engagement on climate-related issues. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in digital product management and creative problem-solving, with a passion for environmental conservation.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

Digital Strategy Development

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive digital strategy and product roadmap aligned with Miami Waterkeeper's mission, goals, and organizational priorities
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing digital products and develop new digital product offerings to address climate change challenges and promote sustainable solutions
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, user needs, and partner strategies to inform digital product development decisions

Digital Product Management

  • Lead the end-to-end digital product management lifecycle, including ideation, prototyping, testing, launch, and ongoing product enhancements through cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and external partners
  • Utilize vibrant storytelling techniques and data visualization to communicate complex climate-related topics in a clear and compelling manner
  • Ensure that digital products engage diverse audiences, generate community support, and contribute to long-term, sustainable, and equitable solutions
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure digital product success and iterate based on user feedback and data insights

Innovation and Technology

  • Foster a culture of innovation within the organization by actively seeking out and evaluating emerging digital technologies, trends, and opportunities
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions, tools, and platforms to optimize internal processes, ensure scalability, and prepare for exponential organizational growth
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in environmental conservation and digital technology to apply relevant advancements to our organization

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the executive team, program managers, and volunteers, to understand their needs and incorporate their input into digital product development processes
  • Engage with community members, governments, and partner organizations to coordinate efforts, gather insights, and incorporate their perspectives into digital product strategies


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leverage investments and partnerships to secure sustainable, ongoing funding from climate investors
  • Represent the organization at conferences, events, and meetings to promote our mission, build partnerships, and identify potential collaborations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., digital marketing, communications, environmental science) is required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in digital strategy development, digital product management, or related roles
  • Demonstrated success in developing and launching digital products or initiatives from ideation to delivery
  • Strong knowledge of digital technologies, storytelling techniques, and data visualization tools
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex climate-related topics into clear and compelling messaging
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results within budget
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams, external partners, and diverse stakeholders
  • Passion for environmental conservation and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in climate change advocacy
  • Familiarity with relevant digital technologies, tools, and platforms for product development and innovation
