Nicole Sedran

Nicole Sedran
Nicole is currently a graduate student working to attain a Master’s of Professional Science in Marine Conservation at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.

Despite being born and raised in the Hudson Valley of New York, Nicole has always been fascinated with the ocean, especially after experiencing her first dive.

Nicole graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies with a minor in Creative Arts from Siena College in Loudonville, New York in 2018. As an undergraduate, Nicole was an active member of the Environmental Department and Environmental Club. Additionally, she had the opportunity to study abroad with the School for Field Studies on South Caicos, Turks and Caicos Islands. While there she studied tropical marine ecosystems and participated in local outreach help to teach local groups, specifically the children of South Caicos, the importance of their native ecosystems through outreach opportunities. This experience, along with the interpretation and education classes she took during her undergraduate, inspired her to pursue a career in marine conservation.

After graduating, Nicole desires to go into education and outreach to help protect and manage our oceans for future generations. She truly believes that sparking the interest and educating the younger generations is the first step towards changing our impact on the earth. She hopes that her time at Miami Waterkeeper will increase her passion for this work and is excited to be on board.
