Emily joined Miami Waterkeeper in July 2017 as a summer intern. During her time as an intern she compiled research for what would become Miami Waterkeeper’s Water Patrol Handbook and wrote numerous blog posts. She became a staff member in September 2017 and is now the Operations Coordinator, continually working behind the scenes on everything from membership and event organization to grant research and blog updates.
Emily received a Bachelor’s of Arts from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study where she concentrated in Environmental Conservation and Adaptation and minored in Environmental Studies. Her colloquium and rationale, “Conceptions of Nature and the People’s Place,” focused on human conceptions of nature and how strategic communication of environmental issues is key to formulating solutions to those issues. Emily has written and published articles for Teen Vogue on climate change, current environmental events, politics, national monuments, and minorities’ access to public lands.
Emily was born and raised in Miami and attended middle school and high school at Ransom Everglades.
