Welcome Collin

Join Miami Waterkeeper in welcoming our new Outreach Coordinator, Collin Schladweiler! Collin joined our team in September 2019, and we’re very excited to be working with him!

Collin graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology from the University of Minnesota School of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Science where he specialized in Environmental Planning and Conservation. While studying, Collin worked as an undergraduate researcher for the University’s Department of Soil, Water and Climate analyzing hydrothermal vent particles and assisted the Humphrey School of Public Affairs with their sustainable cities development research.

After graduating Collin served in the U.S. Peace Corps for over two years. He served the communities in the Philippines who were facing threats to their fisheries and coastal habitats. His main focus areas were on solid waste management and marine habitat conservation through education initiatives.

Collin hopes to use his unique experiences to interact with the communities of South Florida using scientific approaches based in community engagement and to ensure swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for all.
