Miami Waterkeeper (MWK) is an award-winning non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Biscayne Bay and the surrounding watershed. Miami Waterkeeper is seeking a Program Coordinator to join the Education and Outreach team. An ideal candidate for this role will have a deep passion for our mission and will be highly-skilled, detail-oriented, independent, exceptionally organized, and self-motivated. This candidate will be able to co-manage multiple projects simultaneously and to work both independently and collaboratively. Must be willing and able to work with youth of all ages, particularly students in grades 5-12. Must be comfortable coordinating events, working outdoors in south Florida weather/climate (rain, sun, heat, bugs, boats, etc.), and doing some public speaking. Weekend and evening work is required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the development and implementation of innovative outreach events and educational programs
- Coordinate educational programs and events logistics
- Assist with development of new curriculum and educational materials
- Manage program web pages, event landing pages etc.
- Track metrics from outreach-related activities
- Foster community engagement and partnerships
- Ensure grant deliverables are met and exceeded
- Capture/write content and provide summaries from program events and activities
ADDITIONAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage program-related CRM (Nationbuilder) database entries
- Assist with written content for blogs, newsletters, website as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience or equivalent combination
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Google Drive, basic computer operations, and comfort with communicating via phone, email, and Zoom (or equivalent)
- A demonstrated passion for and interest in environmental science, marine conservation, and/or clean water issues related to South Florida
- An interest in and experience with community outreach, education, leadership, and volunteer organizing
- Past experience with youth educational programs and environmental science curriculum development
- Transportation to/from our office in Coral Gables and/or event sites
- Excellent organizational skills -- organized and detailed, ability to manage multiple projects independently, self-starter
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience networking and working with educators and/or school administrations
- Experience working with environmental community groups and organizations.
- Experience using scientific communication strategies to general audiences
- Interest in incorporating a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens when communicating and decision making
- Experience planning and implementing special events or coordinated workshops/conferences
- Experience in writing, editing, and proofreading
- Experience building relationships with staff, volunteers, supporters
SALARY RANGE
$43,000 - $48,000
