As Program Director, Laura develops, plans, and executes Miami Waterkeeper programs. She specializes in citizen science and hands-on programs that are designed so you can partner with us in our goal of protecting Biscayne Bay & the surrounding watershed.

Laura Bracken Chaibongsai joined Miami Waterkeeper as Program Director in February 2019, and currently works to improve and expand our community engagement and water quality programs. Prior to joining the MWK team, Laura spent 11 years as outreach manager at the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science (RSMAS), with the last 6 of those years specifically working on the CARTHE consortium. In that role, she managed a consortium of 27 institutions and nearly 100 people, co-created award winning videos with Waterlust, and developed the marine debris, citizen science study Bay Drift (Biscayne Bay Drift Card Study). She has a M.A. in Marine Affairs & Policy from the University of Miami RSMAS, and a B.S. in Biology from the Pennsylvania State University's Eberly College of Science.
