Discover Miami's Marine Environment Like Never Before
Join us for an unforgettable evening on Biscayne Bay where science meets adventure! This hands-on floating classroom experience combines environmental education and conservation action as we explore Miami's coastal ecosystem from the water.
What You'll Experience:
- Water Quality Testing - Participate in real citizen science by collecting and analyzing water samples to understand pollution impacts
- Island Marine Debris Clean-up - Land on a nearby island for hands-on debris removal while learning about pollution sources and solutions
- Sunset on the Bay - Perfectly timed to enjoy Miami's spectacular sunset over Biscayne Bay as we wrap up our adventure
Part of the ResilientSea Project
The Miami ResilientSea project is a holistic initiative that unites science, education, and grassroots action to advance climate resilience across Miami-Dade County. Spearheaded by the University of Miami and partners including The CLEO Institute, Black Women in Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Science, Rescue a Reef program, Robert K. Johnson Center for Marine Conservation, Debris Free Oceans, Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, and Miami Waterkeeper, this project addresses urgent climate and environmental challenges through inclusive engagement, ecological restoration and conservation, citizen science, and community empowerment.

What to Bring:
- Sun protection (reef-safe sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, sun shirts)
- Closed-toe shoes (required)
- Water in a reusable container
- Signed liability waiver
- Notebook and pen for taking notes and observations
- A positive attitude and curiosity about marine science!
What We Provide:
- Life jackets and all safety equipment
- Extra water
- Snacks and refreshments
- Professional guidance and scientific equipment
- All materials for water testing and debris collection
- An educational and memorable experience on Biscayne Bay
Community service hours provided
This unique opportunity allows you to contribute to meaningful environmental research, learn about Miami's marine ecosystem, and help protect our coastal waters—all while enjoying one of nature's most spectacular shows at sunset. Minimum age is 10 years old to participate. No prior experience necessary.
