Derelict Trap Rodeo
Join Miami Waterkeeper, Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserves and more organizations for a unique cleanup event removing abandoned crab traps and marine debris from Biscayne Bay!
When: Saturday, July 12 | 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Where: Matheson Hammock Park and Marina
During the crab and lobster trap season closure, we're removing derelict traps that continue "ghost fishing" and harming marine life. Choose your adventure:
On the Water: Bring your boat to search for abandoned traps. We'll provide coordinates and instructions at 8:30 AM orientation.
On Land: Join our shoreline cleanup around the park.
Meet at the marina parking lot at 8:00 AM. Boat owners should arrive early for parking. The event concludes at noon with a weigh-in, and the boat team collecting the most debris wins prizes!
Help protect fish, crabs, and marine species by removing harmful ghost fishing gear from beautiful Biscayne Bay.
