Communications

  • Write blogs, newsletters, website content, social media copy, comment letters, reports, outreach/programmatic/fundraising/policy copy, etc.
  • Field organizational requests/inquiries/reports via email
  • Copy edit and fact check written materials
  • Draft written materials for pillar programs as needed

Media 

  • Manage press inquiries in coordination with the relevant staff
  • Write press releases

Social Media

  • Implement social media strategy at the direction of Marketing Manager
  • Assist Marketing Manager with social media copy, user interaction, and responses

Policy

  • Develop copy for policy campaigns and action alerts
  • Copy edit advocacy/comment letters

Outreach

  • Attend meetings on behalf of Miami Waterkeeper as needed

Students/Interns

  • Manage interns/student projects as needed

Development

  • Draft written material for development activities and campaigns (i.e.: direct mail, event invitations, donor solicitations, external partnerships, giving campaigns, etc.)
  • Assist in special event coordination and execution
  • Draft grant applications and reports; identify new grant opportunities
  • Draft written materials in support of Board engagement
  • Draft Miami Waterkeeper’s Annual Report

Job Requirements

  • 0-3 years of experience with a Master’s Degree, 2-5 years with a Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong writing and editing experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong preference for fluency in Spanish with strong Spanish-language writing skills
  • Experience communicating complex content with diverse audiences
  • Experience with graphic design, video editing, and web-based communications
  • Demonstrated research/fact-checking ability
  • Communications, journalism, marketing, or similar educational background
  • Science writing experience and/or scientific background a plus
