A BioBlitz is an intense period of biological surveying to record all living species in a designated area. For this particular BioBlitz event, citizen science divers will conduct surveys to establish baseline conditions of rare and protected species near the Port Everglades reef before the dredging project. Citizen science divers will attend a training the night before, September 7, 2018, at the Sea Experience Classroom from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Training will consist of correct coral species identification techniques as well as coral survey techniques that will be used for the dives. Once completed, divers will participate in a half-day (two dives) to help collect data which will be used to evaluate dredging impacts on the nearby coral reef!

Can't make the diving portion? A celebration afterwards is open to all who attend the event, and any members of the public who want to support the cause!
