Bay Day 2017

Building on the success of past SPLASH series events, Miami Waterkeeper is hosting a community rally for Biscayne Bay on December 16 -- "Bay Day" -- at Shake-a-Leg's waterfront marina in Coconut Grove as its signature event for 2017.

Fun for the whole family, Bay Day will offer food and drinks, music, yoga, games, arts and crafts, educational experiences, and a range of water-related activities such as kayaking, sailing, fishing clinics, and pontoon boat rides to Shake-a-Leg's private eco-island.

“The goal of this event reconnect people with the amazing resource in their own backyard in a fun and festive way,” says Kelly Cox, Miami Waterkeeper Staff Attorney and Program Director. “Biscayne Bay is one of the premier sailing bays in the world, home to over a dozen threatened and endangered species, and it’s right in our backyard.”

Enjoy beautiful Biscayne Bay, learn about marine ecosystems, go for a boat ride, eat delicious food, and make new friends while supporting Miami Waterkeeper’s work to protect our unique waterways. All proceeds benefit Miami Waterkeeper’s efforts to provide swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for all in South Florida.

“This year we are excited to hold the event at Shake-A-Leg where we can offer more on-the-water activities for attendees- making those activities accessible to everyone. We hope the whole community comes out to enjoy the water and joins the fight to protect it,” says Miami Waterkeeper Executive Director and Waterkeeper, Rachel Silverstein. Tickets include a one-year basic membership to Miami Waterkeeper.

Miami Waterkeeper’s event is also supported by the generosity of our corporate sponsors including: Monty’s, Uniesse, Whole Foods, TUUCI, Coffey Burlington, EveryMundo, Grove Properties, and Budget Dumpster. In-Kind Sponsors include Island Queen Cruises, Rubio’s Coastal Grill, Biscayne Bay Brewing, Xavier Cortada’s Florida is exhibit, SkinMedica, and Shake 108.

Bay Day is part of a national SPLASH event series with Waterkeeper Alliance, aimed at rallying support for clean waterways and sponsored nationally by Toyota.
