Wilson is an accomplished marine and atmospheric chemist with a Ph.D. from the University of Miami Rosenstiel's School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. He received the prestigious Mary Roche Prize for outstanding research at sea and scientific excellence.

His research interests focus on the complex dynamics of dissolved organic matter and its impact on the carbon and nutrient turnover rates in coastal oceans, particularly emphasizing the effects of anthropogenic activities and climate change. Wilson's research experience is highly diverse, covering topics such as seaweed ecology and chemistry, nutrient and carbonate chemistry, algal biofuels, oil spills, harmful algal blooms (HABs), persistent organic pollutants, and intelligent environmental sensing. He was also awarded an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Fellowship to investigate the impacts of nutrient enhancement on coastal acidification and hypoxia in Narragansett Bay (Rhode Island), working in collaboration with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Wilson's significant contributions to the scientific community are reflected in his ten primary-authored articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and over 20 conference proceedings/abstracts presented at national and international scientific meetings. He is also a certified environmental manager, having received certification from the University of California-Irvine. More recently, Wilson expanded his interdisciplinary skillset by completing a master's degree in Artificial Intelligence from FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Beyond his scientific accomplishments, Wilson is an avid water sports enthusiast, enjoying activities such as snorkeling, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, swimming, scuba diving, and surfing. He also maintains a healthy lifestyle by participating in other activities such as wall climbing and beach volleyball. Overall, Wilson is an accomplished and well-rounded professional with a passion for science and a love for outdoor activities.
